How the years ago calculator works

Going back a number of years keeps the month and day the same and changes the year. The calculator applies the Gregorian calendar rules, so a start date of February 29 lands on February 28 when the target year isn't a leap year. Everything runs in your browser, nothing is sent to a server.

You can also count in months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, seconds, decades or centuries, measure the gap between two dates, find your exact age, or check whether a year is a leap year.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find the date 10 years ago?

Enter 10 in the box and press Calculate. The calculator shows the same day and month, 10 years earlier, with the weekday.

Can I count from a date other than today?

Yes. Change the starting date field to any date in the past or future.

Is it accurate for leap years?

Yes. Leap years and month lengths are handled with real calendar rules.
